Which technologies does webPDF use?

webPDF is a J2EE application running on an embedded Java EE application server (Apache Tomcat) and providing web services. webPDF is installed as an "out-of-the-box" solution on a server as a Windows service or Linux Daemon. The installation of JRE 1.6 or JDK 1.6 on the server as well as a platform as e. g. Windows (2000/XP/2003/2008) or Linux (x86) is required. webPDF can be also deployed manually on any other Java EE application server.

The webPDF server provides various services for creating and handling PDF documents:

Conversion: On the basis of OpenOffice.org the server is able to convert over 100 different file formats into PDF.

Signatures: Via the the signature web service you can sign PDF documents digitally and certificate them e. g. for E-Invoice.

These components make up the webPDF Server.

The components are available for immediate use ("Ready to run Appliance") or can be individually installed according to your needs ("Configuration package"). The web service of the webPDF Server can be deployed on any J2EE server.

Facts overview:

  • Developed as web service in Java
  • Conversions are based on OpenOffice.org
  • J2EE-Server (Apache Tomcat) as the basis for the web service
  • as a Windows service or Linux Daemon
  • Native Java API for integration in your own applications
