Which technologies does webPDF use?

The webPDF server is implemented as a J2EE application, which runs on an "embedded" Apache Tomcat server. Requirement for using the web service is the installation of the JRE 6 or the JDK 6 on the server, as well as a platform as e. g. Windows (XP, 2003, Vista, 7 oder 2008) or Linux (x86). webPDF can be run in 32bit or 64bit environments. There is a native 64bit version available for Linux.

The webPDF server provides various services for creating and handling PDF documents:

Converter: On the basis of OpenOffice.org the server is able to convert over 100 different file formats into PDF.

Signature: Via the the signature Web service you can sign PDF documents digitally and certificate them e. g. for E-Invoice.

PDF/A: Via the PDF/A Web service you can create PDF documents which meet all requirements of the ISO standard 19005-1. webPDF enables the validation of any PDF document against the PDF/A standard and delivers a detailed report on the status of the document.

Toolbox: Via the Toolbox Web service you can print, export, merge, split or edit PDF documents.

These components make up the webPDF Server.

The components are available for immediate use ("Ready to run Appliance") or can be individually installed according to your needs ("Configuration package").
